Frequently Asked Questions
What locations do you service?
Pet Transport serves the **entire United States**. For international arrangements, please contact us directly so we can review your needs.
Are you truly USDA‑registered? Do you carry real insurance for my pet?
Yes. Pet Transport can provide **official, physical proof** of our USDA registration and active insurance policy. While some companies claim to be registered or insured without documentation, we offer full transparency so you can feel confident in your choice.
Who will be taking care of my pet?
Your pet’s comfort and emotional well‑being matter. Animals quickly sense inexperience, which can cause stress. That’s why we hire only **experienced, animal‑loving handlers and drivers** who undergo routine background checks and drug screenings. We never hire anyone who “kind of” likes animals—only people who genuinely care for them.
What will my pet be fed during Transport?
Your pet will be fed according to **your food and water schedule**. We feed according to their schedule, we have on site food incase they forget or run out. Water- pets have 24 hour access to water. we have mounted bowls for this so they stay hydrated.
We also have a pet emergency care kit on board incase there are any issues.
How will you keep my pet clean?
We follow a strict, pet‑friendly cleaning protocol. Kennels are checked and cleaned **every 2.5 hours**, and only gentle, animal‑safe cleaning products are used. Our goal is to keep your pet clean, comfortable, and healthy throughout the entire journey.
I’m buying a pet from a breeder. Can you help verify legitimacy?
Yes. With years of industry experience, we’ve seen both excellent breeders and fraudulent ones. Our **Pet Purchase Fraud Protection** helps ensure you’re receiving the pet you were promised. We also send you a **photo of the pet at pickup** so you can confirm everything before delivery.
How often will my pet get exercise?
Pets receive exercise **every 2–4 hours**, including a 20‑minute walk break. During this time, we also clean kennels, offer affection, and make sure each pet is comfortable and ready for the next leg of the trip.
Do you have breed restrictions?
No. We welcome **all domestic pets under 200 pounds**. Every animal receives individual attention to ensure safe cohabitation during Transport.
Do you accommodate special‑needs pets?
Absolutely. We never turn away a special‑needs pet or charge extra fees. Provide us with any required instructions, food, garments, or restraints, and we’ll ensure your pet receives the attentive care they deserve.
How can I avoid fraudulent pet Transport companies?
Fraudulent Transporters often appear on platforms like Craigslist. They may request unsafe payment methods such as MoneyGram, Western Union, Walmart‑to‑Walmart, or PayPal Friends & Family.
If a company asks you to bypass your bank, it’s a red flag. Some breeders also use cheap, unlicensed Transporters to cut costs—always research the Transporter yourself. Reputable breeders will work with you to choose a service you trust.
What documents do I need for pickup and drop‑off?
You’ll need a **valid photo ID** and signature at both pickup and drop‑off. We also verify the names of the individuals authorized to be present at each location. Additionally, USDA regulations require a **current health certificate** for your pet.
Can you pay my breeder at pickup?
We can facilitate payment, but a **10% service fee** applies when we handle breeder payments. Payment details and options will be discussed during booking.
Why is the travel time long even if my pet is only going one state over?
Our shared‑ride service follows a **preplanned national route** designed to serve many clients efficiently. This route includes stops every 2.5 hours for exercise, cleaning, and driver rest—prioritizing safety over speed. Most pets arrive within **one week**.
If you need faster delivery, our **private Transport** option offers drop‑off within **24 hours** of pickup.
Who do you recommend for breeding information?
We highly recommend the **American Kennel Club (AKC)** for reputable, expert‑level information about dogs and breeders.
My pet has an illness. Can it travel?
No. Pets must be in good health and have a **valid veterinary health certificate** to travel.
